Auto Ranking allows Roteam to automatically promote, demote, or manage users in your Roblox group.

1. Create a Roblox Open Cloud API Key

  • Go to create.roblox.com/credentials

  • Create a new API key and add the following permissions:

    • group:read — required to fetch group roles and member info

    • group:write — required to change member ranks

    • universe-messaging-service:publish — required for Remote Admin to communicate with live game servers

2. Add the API Key to Roteam

  • Go to Settings → API Keys

  • Paste your Roblox Open Cloud API key

  • Roteam validates the key before saving — if it fails, double-check your permissions

  • You can delete and replace the key at any time; only one key per workspace is supported

3. Enable Auto Ranking

  • Go to Settings → Auto Ranking

  • If no API key is saved, a banner will prompt you to add one first

  • Flip the toggle to Enabled

4. Configure a Suspension Rank

  • Choose which Roblox group rank members are moved to when suspended (e.g., "Suspended" or "On Leave")

  • When a suspension is lifted, the member is automatically returned to their original rank

  • Select from the dropdown which is populated from your live Roblox group roles

Important notes

  • Only users with proper permissions can be ranked

  • Users can only promote users with lower ranks then themselves

  • Changes may take a few minutes to apply

Troubleshooting

If ranking fails:

  • Create a new API Key

  • Check your permissions in the group

  • Verify your rules are valid
